Library of the Czech Academy of Sciences (LCAS) is a public research institution whose purpose is to conduct scientific research in the area of scientific information and library science, to establish a research-oriented information infrastructure, and to provide library-based, informational, and reprographic services to the institutes of Czech Academy of Sciences and other users active in research and science. The library will be closed on 21 December from 5 p.m. and from 22 December to 1 January 2019.
The regular library operation will start again on Wednesday 2 January 2019.

New items – November 2018

Check out the news that came into our library collection in November.
As every month, we bring you a full list of new printed books along with 10 selected ones, which we want to drag your attention to. The chosen ones are displayed in the study, you can borrow or reserved them right away. They are also available in the Digital Library of CAS via reserved computers in the library area.

Services

Library card exchange (RFID system transition)

On Monday 17 December 2018 we will launch a new RFID identification system which will be followed by the introduction of a self service loan machine (self-check) and a complete replacement of the old library cards. From now on you will be able to use one of your preexisting chip cards instead of the card issued by our library. It will however still be possible to obtain a LCAS chip card from our library if you do not own a suitable one already.
