Organic Chemistry

The project will focus on the synthesis of novel antiviral compounds mainly against RNA viruses from Picornaviridae and Flaviviridae family. The design of the compounds will be both ligand-based and also structure-based with tight cooperation with the computational chemists, virologists and biochemists from the Institute. The project has a strong international background based on collaboration with Prof. Johan Neyts from Rega Institute for Medical Research, Leuven, Belgium and Dr. Tomáš Cihlář from Gilead Sciences, Inc., Foster City, USA.
