Organic Chemistry

Helquats are doubly positive helical systems (Chem. Eur. J. 2009, 15, 1072; Chemické Listy 2011, 105, 506). These dicationic compounds represent structural hybrids of helicenes and viologens. The goal of this PhD. project is to develop synthesis of a series of helquat-based dyes. Our efforts in this area will be driven by a hypothesis that crossbreeding rich fields of viologens and helicenes with chemistry of dyes will lead to interesting and applicable knowledge.
