Head Office of CAS

The Head Office of "the Czech Academy of Sciences" (hereinafter as "CAS") has, since January 1, 2001, been the organisational unit of the CAS established for an indefinite period of time and located in the headquarters building of the Academy in Prague 1, at Národní Street 3. Its legal status is regulated by Act No. 283/1992 Coll. (on the Czech Academy of Sciences) and by Act No. 219/2000 on the property of the Czech Republic and its legal relationships in the wording of later regulations, and by Articles No. 41–43 of the Statutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

The Academy Head Office ensures the basic functioning of the Czech Academy of Sciences relating to the establishment of research institutes, administration of the state budget chapter and the allotment of state budgetary funds. The Office is responsible for property and legal matters of the Academy research institutes, the targeted support of grant and programme projects and the institutional support of research objectives of the Institutes of the CAS. It administers the CAS budget and the internal control system of the CAS. In addition, it performs professional, legal, and organisational matters relating to the work of bodies of the CAS, especially of the President of the CAS, the Academy Assembly, the Academy Council and its Presidium, the Council for Sciences, and of the other advisory bodies.
