Postdoctoral Associate in Lipid Metabolism Research
Postdoctoral Associate in Lipid Metabolism Research (2-5 years), Prague, Czech Republic
Postdoctoral associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Ondrej Kuda at the Institute of Physiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IPHYS), Prague, Czech Republic. IPHYS is a leading national research institution in the field of normal and pathological physiology. The mission of the Institute is to enhance the fundamental knowledge on physiological and pathological processes associated with specific areas of metabolism and cardiovascular, neuronal and brain functions.
The focus of Dr. Kuda’s lab is to explore the metabolism of bioactive lipids, specifically regulation of metabolic pathways related to glucose and lipid metabolism. We are interested in the products of de novo lipogenesis such as branched fatty acid esters of hydroxy fatty acids (FAHFA), anti-inflammatory & pro-resolving eicosanoids and docosanoids, and endocannabinoid-like metabolites derived from omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. We aim to combine biochemistry, bioinformatics and LC-MS-based omics techniques to decipher the regulations and pathways underlying metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and obesity.
We are looking for creative, imaginative, independent and highly-motivated applicants holding a PhD with experience in biochemistry/physiology/molecular biology. Bioinformatics/programing and/or animal handling and/or LC-MS skills are highly appreciated. Excellent communication skills and collaborative attitude are crucial as the institute is bilingual (Czech/English).
Position will be initially funded for 2 years with a possibility of extending to 5 years. Starting date is flexible (anytime in the first half of 2019). Dr. Kuda’s lab is well funded by national research grants and institutional support from the Czech Academy of Sciences.
Applicants should send the following materials directly to Dr. Kuda at Ondrej.Kuda@fgu.cas.cz until March 31, 2019.
- Curriculum vitae
- Two published papers (in PDF format) in which you are the first author and that you are most proud of
- Cover letter – a brief description on why you think you are qualified for the position including a description of relevant skills and experience
- A copy of your degree diploma and any other relevant official transcripts or documents you wish to provide in support of your application
- Contact details of two to five referees with a short description of how these individuals are professionally related to you.
The application will not be reviewed until all application items are received.
