German Design Award 2019 for the IOCB Prague campus
Reconstruction of the IOCB Prague campus and the extension with the new building received the German Design Award Special Mention 2019 in the Excellent Communications Design / Architecture category. The authors of the recognized project are VPÚ DECO PRAHA a.s., Ivan Šrom & Kateřina Mašková.
The project covered a full reconstruction and technological modernization of the existing structures and extension of the facility with the new building, with the objective of creating a well-arranged, logically segmented campus in compliance with the needs of the current top-level scientific workplace. The re/construction works were carried out in 2010-2017.
The jury especially recognized the new building for organic chemistry labs: “The skeletal steel structure appears to be the only thing containing the balloon-like dilation. A fantastic building design that also radiates pleasant transparency and candor due to its all-round glazing.”
