Topic Structure of saccharides studied by optical methods
Faculty FCHI/VŠCHT, MFF & PřF/UK
Abstract

Saccharides are omnipresent in the living matter. Compared to proteins and nucleic acids  their structure and interactions are relatively unexplored and difficult to study at molecular level. We explore possibilities of the modern spectroscopy of vibrational optical activity and induced circular polarized luminescence of lanthanide optical probes to reveal some saccharides secrets. We believe that this may be important for understanding the biological function or for applications, such as in food industry.
