Library of the Czech Academy of Sciences (LCAS) is a public research institution whose purpose is to conduct scientific research in the area of scientific information and library science, to establish a research-oriented information infrastructure, and to provide library-based, informational, and reprographic services to the institutes of Czech Academy of Sciences and other users active in research and science. What February news can you find in our collection? As every month, we bring you a full list of new printed books along with 10 selected ones, which we want to drag your attention to.
The chosen ones are displayed in the study, you can borrow or reserved them right away. They are also available in the Computer Study via the Digital Library of the LCAS.

New items overview for the January – it’s possible to view the whole list at once or have it sorted out by fields of knowledge.
A selection of ten interesting new arrivals is available for browsing in the study (without having to order them in advance) and it simultaneously possible to browse these publications in digitalised form on the computer reserved for work with the Digital library of Czech Academy of Sciences. You can leaf through them there and possibly print out parts of them.

An online Encyclopedia of book in Czech Middle ages and Early modern period

Library of the Czech Academy of Sciences and National Library of the Czech Republic published an Encyclopedia that covers the period from the beginnings of the Czech book culture in the Middle Ages to the disappearance of the hand press book at the beginning of the 19th century. It contains both explanatory entries for both individual book history phenomena and development. It is based on 2400 entries from an encyclopedia focused on a printed book (Petr Voit, Book Encyclopedia: older printing press and related fields between the 15th and the beginning of the 19th century, Prague 2006).
