The results of the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowhips (MSCA IF) 2018 were announced at the end of February. Gizem Sengör, Ph.D, a member of Dr. Constantinos Skordis’ team at the FZU and the new MSCA fellow, will start working on her project in the autumn of 2019. She will be joining the group of MSCA fellows at FZU. Gizem Sengör will concentrate on the description of fields in cosmic epochs of accelerated expansion.

The Lumina Quaeruntur Premium is to provide financial support for prospective researchers to set up their own research team for a period of up to five years. The Academy of Sciences presented the programme and its first six laureates during a ceremony held at Národní třída, Prague, on Thursday, January 17th. One of the laureates is RNDr. Hana Lísalová, Ph.D. from the Department of Optical and Biophysical Systems of the Institute of Physics of the CAS (FZU).

From 2019 the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences will start using a new logo. The new form of the logo has emerged from a two-round designer competition and it follows the path of re-design – it retains the message and the symbolism of the former logo, but it allows the institute to present itself to a wider audience, mainly abroad.
Scientists from the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (FZU) have managed to win projects in the competition opened by the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic (GA CR). They have achieved tremendous success in all listed categories, including the new EXPRO program to support excellence in basic research. The funding will enable the research of a wide range of topics across physics.
The Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences received a record amount of 1670 visitors during its Open Days, which were held at its 4 sites – at Na Slovance, at Cukrovarnická and in laser centres HiLASE and ELI Beamlines in Dolní Břežany in November 2018.
