On 28 November 2018, the Czech Liaison Office for Research, Development and Innovation (CZELO), together with the Czech Centre Brussels and regional representations of Prague, Pilsen and South Moravia, jointly organised another Science Café. This time, the invitation for the twelfth edition accepted Prof. Danuše Nerudová, an acknowledged economist, scientist in the field of finances and accounting, and the Rector of the Mendel University in Brno. Her research is focused on sustainability – oriented future EU funding and on the financial reporting and public finances.

Prof. Nerudová has lectured about tax issues in New York at the United Nations on high level meeting of the Independent commission for the reform of global taxation (ICRICT) in 2017. She presented the Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base (CCCTB) as a possible candidate for a global reform of corporate taxation and discussed the pros and cons of its introduction and its possible effect on developing countries. She also presented her research focused on more stable, sustainable, predictable and autonomous EU budget in the European Parliament in 2017. The debate also raised questions about public education and highlighting the need for tax payment and corporate taxation in the era of the digital economy.

As the Rector of the Mendel University, she is among other issues focusing on improving the position of the Mendel University in the international university ranking. One of the steps to achieve this goal was the creation of the International Council formed by the ERC holders in the relevant field. According to her university should be open institution with equal opportunities, which shall contribute to the development of society and attract creative minds.
