Public opinion on equality of approach to education are contradictory Almost two thirds of respondents expressed their opinion that quality education for children could be ensured only by rich parents, but a same part of respondents agreed with that intensity of education depends on a person who has will and abilities to study. Similar contradictory opinions occured in case of two other statements that were judged by respondents.

In November survey the respndents were interrogated whether they agree or disagree with some statements about czech university system. Major part of respondents (93%) agreed that quality university education is an investment that serves to a person or to all society well. There were some contradictory opinions on university tuition. Almost two thirds of people think that university tuition ( with chance to gain loan for studies) would help to more people who want to study at university.

Citizens(90%) said their „ yes“ for keeping schoolsystem to be free of charge.

89% of respondents think, there should exist life-imprisonment for people who commit serious crimes repeatedly. 81% of citizens would welcome full employment ensured by the state. One of supported aims is limiting of immigration from problematic states (76% of respondents).64% of czech citizens wish the taxes for rich people were higher.

45% of citizens fear of possible teroristic attack on Czech Republic. Women (50%) are afraid of teroristic attack more than men (38%). More than three fifths of respondents expressed their opinion that intelligence services competencies should be strenghten, when almost a quarter of respondents is against it. People , who do not definitely trust in BIS and people who do not fear of teroristic attack, are often against strenghtening of power of secret service.

Three quarters of respondents suppose that World war two and key events of the war should be still remembered, 15 % of people share opposite opinion. More than two fifths of people expressed their opinion that key events of the war are seldom remembered, same part of people think that these events are remembered well and 6 % of respondents think that the events are remembered too often. Czech anti-fascist resistance in West or in East Europe is evaluated to be important or very important, czech anti-fascist resistance in West Europe is supposed to be important or very important by 71 % of respondents, czech anti-fascist resistance in East Europe is supposed to be important or very important by 70% of people and 68 % of respondents evaluate home anti-fascist resistance.

A part of the October survey of the Public Opinion Research Centre was also a set of questions devoted to the Czech education system. Czech citizens judge the quality of all types of schools in a relatively positive way. Compared with other types of schools, education at secondary training institutions was valued as being on a good level by the smallest amount of respondents. Regardless of that, their quality was appraised as good by two thirds of respondents, who answered the question.

The question in the September survey, if the existence of small breweries in the Czech Republic was endangered, was mostly answered by respondents (37 %) by saying they could not judge these issues and 15 % of the approached citizens were not interested in it. A fifth of respondents think that small breweries are seriously endangered. The statement that small breweries are not seriously endangered in any way was supported by another fifth of respondents.

In its September survey, the Public Opinion Research Centre paid attention to restaurants, pubs and beer drinking. Therefore, we asked respondents if they sometimes went or had gone to a pub, or such a facility, which could be classified as a pub, whatever its official name was. More than three quarters of Czech citizens have gone to a pub at least sometime in their lives. Less than a fifth of respondents, according to their words, have never visited a pub.

People, who drink beer, usually like it. Only 6 % said that they more likely do not enjoy it; however 39 % of respondents answered that they liked beer very much, other 54 % chose the option “more likely to enjoy it”. The most popular type of beer is draught ten-degree proof light beer, which is preferred by 42 % of citizens. About one fifth (19 %) of respondents named light twelve-degree proof beer as their favourite type of beer, one tenth light eleven-degree proof beer and 6 % prefer stout.

In the September survey, the Public Opinion Research Centre concentrated particularly on the importance of beer and pubs for Czech culture and tradition. An absolute majority of respondents (ninety and more percent) think that beer is a national drink and represents one of the things that Czechs can boast about abroad. On the other hand, a noticeable number of respondents said that much too great an importance was placed on beer in the Czech Republic (63 %) and that drinking large amounts of beer was a bad characteristic of the population of the Czech Republic (67 %).
