In January 2011 Public Opinion Research Centre carried out a survey about debts and loans. In this press release are published attitudes of Czech citizens to debts of common people on one hand and opinion about the Czech Republic public debt on the other hand. According to February 2011 survey 8 % of citizens regard taxation on high-income earners as high, 21 % say it is adequate and 62 % think it is low. Taxation on average-income earners is considered to be high by 35 % of respondents, adequate by 52 % and low by 5 % of citizens. Taxation on low-income earners was supposed to be high by 66 %, adequate by 23 % and low by 2 %. 70 % of respondents think that tax rate should be higher for high-income earners than for low-income earners.

Almost half (47%) of people believe that for the income of their household they can buy or pay less than a year ago, a little more than two fifths (43%) believe that the real income of their households is about the same as one year before, and less than a tenth of respondents said that their income during the last year has increased. More than a half of Czech citizens (52%) consider current inflation to be acceptable, roughly three tenth of people (31%) share the opposite opinion.

Since February 1997 CVVM has been examined what people think about the economic standard of our country compared to nine other European countries. 3% of Czechs assesses the economy as being very good, 47% rather good, 43% rather bad and 4% very bad. Only 3% could not judge the situation. In the ranking of countries, the Czech Republic is situated on the fourth place behind Germany, Austria and Slovenia.

According to January survey 52 % of Czechs think that economic situation of the Czech Republic became worse in 2010. 32 % of Czechs see as worsened living material conditions of their households. 58 % of respondents feel that financial crisis afflicted their household and 65 % see as affected their job. 47 % see the reaction of Czech government to present situation as bad, 36 % expressed opposite view.
