The inflammatory response is a highly regulated process and its dysregulation frequently leads to various human diseases. The search for new antiinflammatory agents is a great challenge since inflammation also plays an important role in the body´s defense against pathogens. Our group participates in the research of novel pyrimidine analogs to control inflammatory bowel disease as well as novel lipoxin A4 analogs with potential impact in the treatment of asthma bronchiale. The aim of this project is (1) screening for new molecules with potential antiinflammatory activity and (2) elucidation of the mechanism of action of these compounds.
