Sociální distance ve stratifikačním systému ČR

Shrnutí projektu

 

Sociální distance budou studovány pomocí dvou výzkumů, vstupní kvalitativní sondy a reprezentativního šetření v dospělé populaci. Zkoumán bude stratifikační prostor bez existujících apriorních klasifikací (typu status či třída). Cílem je zmapování celého stratifikačního prostoru včetně skupin lidí nezařazených ve standardním pracovním procesu. K tomu bude využito především metody měření subjektivní sociální distance a percepce sociálních nerovností a přístupu měřící objektivní sociální distance v rámci sociální sítě jedince (generátory jmen a pozic). Aplikace tohoto přístupu umožní hledat odpověď na základní otázku, zda se v naší společnosti formují disjunktní, relativně homogenní sociální skupiny, které lze považovat za sociální třídy. Cílem bude stanovit relativní vzdálenosti a tedy i míru jejich uzavření. Získané subjektivní distance budou porovnány s objektivními. Zkoumána bude také predikční síla standardních koncepcí operacionalizace sociálního postavení. Zvláštní pozornost bude věnována odlišnostem v percepci sociálních nerovností mezi muži a ženami.

 

V rámci projektu provádíme:

  • Kvalitativní výzkum sociálních distancí - polostrukturované rozhovory v Praze a Liberci (sběr dat 2006).
  • Kvantitativní šetření Sociální distance (sběr dat listopad - prosinec 2007, agentura Focus).
  • Sekundární analýzu dat z výzkumu MML TGI ČR (Median s.r.o.)

I pursue differentiation of lifestyle, cultural capital (taste, consumption) and stratification. Analyses of MML 2004 examine: class homology hypothesis, background of cultural omnivorousness and hypothesis of homology bolstering after 1989. Most of 6 lifestyle spheres is structured by education and income, partly also hierarchically tied to household social class ABCDE. Other factors have effect: gender, age, city.

This text focuses on how Czech people re-construct the divisions and inequalities, how they define social categories and classes in the Czech society, and how people distinguish and distance themselves from or identify with these categories/classes. The qualitative analysis is based on 30 in-depth interviews with men and women with various educational backgrounds and social statuses and on qualitative analysis of the concept of social class in Czech media discourse.

We deal with subjective interaction distances in stratification: concepts in sociology; analysis of Bogardus scale (22 occupational categories). Hierarchy is correlated with prestige and ISEI with minor divergences. Gender differences can be explained by popular stereotypes. Subjective social class boundaries hypothesis tested; 4 perceived classes can be traced: hi. professionals, female lower professionals, qual./semi-qual. man./non-man. workers, and unqual. man.
