Since 2019 the Institute of Art History CAS has been publishing the Musicology Journal. The first issue in the graphic desing of Jan Šerých was just published. In the editorial, a new concept of the journal as well as of the recently established Department of Musicology at the IAH CAS are presented.

Wednesday 12 June 2019 another lecture of the CHA series will take place. This time Zuzanna Sarnecká (University of Warsaw) will talk on "Sensual Clay: The New Approach to Italian Renaissance Terracotta Sculpture". The Library of Musicology of the IAH CAS opens again after reconstruction and sanitation of the books fund. The library is situated at the Puškin Square 9, Prague 1 and is open Mondays and Wednesdays always from 10 till 5:30 pm, with a lunch break from 12 until 1 pm. For an appointment outside the opening hours, please, consult the librarian.

We coordially invite you to the presentation of the exhibition catalogue "Svoboda + Palcr: Seeing Sculptures, which will take place on Tuesday 4 June 2019 at 5 pm at Milada Horáková Street 851/84, Prague 7. The exhibition is currently to be seen at the Gallery of the Fine Arts in Cheb till 16 June 2019. The catalogue is published by the Artefactum, Publishing House of the IAH CAS. On 30 April 2019 a joint project of the IAH CAS and Leonard A. Lauder Research Center for Modern Art was presented in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York., The cooperation resulted in a digital facsimile, with transcription and translation, of notes by Vincenc Kramář, on Picasso's 1913 exhibition at Heinrich Thannhauser's Moderne Galerie in Munich. The original notes are located in the Department of Documentation of the IAH CAS in Prague.

On Wednesday 15 May 2019 Milan Pelc (Institute of Art History, Zagreb) will talk on: „Reception of Prints and Innovative Iconography in the Late Gothic Miniature: Examples from Two Zagreb Manuscript Missals". The lecture within the series Collegium historiae artium will take place at 4.30 pm in the lecture theatre of the IAH CAS, room no. 117.

We coordially invite you to the exhibition "Svoboda + Palcr: Seeing Scuplptures", which is open from 10 April till 16 June 2019 at the Gallery of Fine Arts in Cheb. The exhibition presents photographies by Jan Svoboda (1934–1990) as well as a collection of rarely displayed sculptures by Zdeněka Palcr. (1927–1996). The exhibition is curated by Katarína Mašterová from the IAH CAS. The exhibition is open until 16 June 2019.

On Wednesday 10 April 2019 Gábor György Papp (Hungarian Academy of Sciences) will talk on National Architecture and the "Jewish Question" in Hungary 1908–1920: The Case of the Hungarian (Architectural) Society with the So-Called "Hungarian Art Nouveau". On Tuesday 19 March 2019 an opening of the exhibition "Career with a Palette: Artist, Art and Artisanhip in the 19 century" will take place at 5 pm in Plzeň at the Exhibition Hall 13 of the Gallery of West Bohemia (Pražská 13, Plzeň). The conference "Visual Antisemitism in the Central Europe" will deal also with questions of how to write about the visual history of antisemitism and exhibit anti-Semitic works to the public without contributing to the support of hate movements. Especially welcome are contributions focusing on the theme of visual antisemitism in the Central Europe from the Middle Ages to the present day.
