Position funded by the insitute – postdoc fellow, Department of Spectroscopy.

Job description:

We announce a new postdoc fellow position in the research team at Department of Spectroscopy, J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry, Czech Academy of Sciences, v.v.i. The position focuses on spectroscopic investigation in the field of detection and analyses of highly excited Rydberg spectra of atoms, radicals and ions. The new team member will be primarily involved in the laboratory measurement of high resolved spectra of atoms in the infrared and millimetre spectral range.  The postdoc candidate has to have experience with the techniques of high resolution Fourier Transform spectroscopy, the design and operation of custom equipment, collection, analysis and interpretation of data, and publication of results. We welcome candidates who have extended experience with the discharge plasma techniques and atomic spectra analyses.

 

General requirements:

  • PhD or equivalent degree in chemistry, physics, chemical engineering or a related field (expected completion of PhD in 2019 is sufficient);
  • good written and oral communication skills in English.

Specific requirements:

  • experienced with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy techniques
  • experienced with the design and operation of custom equipment
  • skilled in data acquisition, data analysis and interpretation
  • experience with in situ / operando characterization of atomic spectra
  • experience with plasma discharge techniques and infrared spectroscopy
  • a good scientific publication record
  • at least 1 year of research experience

 

Expected start of the position: 1st  July 2019
Length of the contract:  1 year with possible extension
