Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Microfluidics

The Institute of Photonics and Electronics v. v. i., in accordance with the Act No. 283/1992 of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, as amended by the Act No. 420/2005, and in accordance with the Statutes of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions in the field of microfluidics.  

 

Responsibilities and tasks
The selected candidate will be expected to develop microfluidic systems for optical affinity biosensors based on surface plasmons. Specific tasks may include:
  • Modelling mass transport in microfluidic structures.
  • Design and fabrication of microfluidic structures and devices for both biomolecular interaction analysis and detection purposes.
  • Development of experimental protocols and analysis of biosensor data for the extraction of relevant biomolecular information.
Requirements: 
  • Ph. D. degree in engineering, physics, chemistry, or a related field. 
  • Experience in research into microfluidic systems, preferably when used with surface-based biosensing technologies.
  • Publication record in the field of microfluidics.
  • Experience in fabrication of microfluidic structures and devices, including photolithographic and replication methods; knowledge of micro-/nanofabrication methods.
  • Experience in computing or programming languages (Matlab).
  • Experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is a plus.
  • Experience in collecting and analyzing affinity-based biosensor data is a plus.

The Institute of Photonics and Electronics v. v. i., in accordance with the Act No. 283/1992 of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, as amended by the Act No. 420/2005, and in accordance with the Statutes of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions in the field of functional materials and coatings.

 

Responsibilities and tasks:
  • The selected candidate will carry out research into functional materials and coatings for optical affinity biosensors. 
  • The selected candidate will be expected to develop advanced functional molecular systems for optical affinity biosensors based on continuous or nanostructured substrates. 
  • The selected candidate will be expected to perform design, synthesis and characterization of functional molecular systems and participate in their applications for the detection of biomolecules and investigation of biomolecular and cellular interactions.
Requirements: 
  • Ph. D. degree in physical chemistry, chemical engineering, organic chemistry, macromolecular chemistry or similar,
  • publication record in the field of material sciences or chemical engineering,
  • experience in research into functional molecular systems and development of functional coatings for biosensing.

Postdoctoral Research Fellows in Plasmonics

The selected candidate with strong theoretical background in plasmonics and photonics will be expected to perform theoretical analysis and design of plasmonic nanostructures and optical platforms for plasmonic biosensors. 

The selected candidate with strong experimental experience in plasmonic sensing will be expected to develop novel optical platforms for biosensors based on plasmonic nanostructures and participate in their applications for the detection of biomolecules and investigation of biomolecular interactions.

  • Ph. D. degree in electrical engineering, physics, optics, optoelectronics, or similar,
  • publication record in the field of plasmonics and photonics,
  • experience in research into plasmonic (nano)structures and development of optical platforms for plasmonic sensing.
