Tenure Track Positions in COMPUTER SCIENCE and in ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

The Institute of Computer Science of the Czech Academy of Sciences (ICS CAS), Prague, invites applications for tenure track positions in Computer Science and in Artificial Intelligence.

Applicants should demonstrate an outstanding research record and the ability to direct research work of high quality.

The successful candidate should have a strong background and an international reputation in Computer Science or Artificial Intelligence.

Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, a statement of future research interests, and a description of the three most important achievements.
(ICS CAS emphasises qualitative assessment of academic accomplishments. This is why you are kindly asked to submit a short description of your three most important achievements - maximum a half page each. Besides research findings, these could also be services in the benefit of the academic community or society, software development, patents, knowledge transfer and its practical application, spin-off companies or similar.)

  • a cover letter in which you describe your motivation and qualifications for the position
  • a curriculum vitae, including a list of your publications and a description of the three most important achievements
  • a description of your scientific interest and plans
  • 3 letters of recommendation. The referees should send their recommendations directly to ics@cs.cas.cz.
  • a list with names of additional references

The selection process will start in the 2nd half of September.

Qualifications

We encourage you to apply if you have:

  • a PhD degree in Computer Sciences or Mathematics or a related field
  • (postdoctoral) experience, preferably in a different country / university than where you received your PhD, and a relevant international network
  • excellent research qualities, as shown by a publication record in international peer-reviewed journals and proceedings of renowned conferences
  • demonstrable organizational competences
  • good command of spoken and written English
  • cross-cultural sensitivity
  • and you are a team player with good communication skills

Conditions of Employment

We offer you a full-time position:

  • a salary, depending on qualifications and work experience
  • holiday allowance and end-of-year bonus
  • the possibility to work part-time

In case of a full-time contract, you will initially be appointed for up to 3 years and your performance will be assessed after 3 years. If your assessment is positive, you will get a proposal for an extension or tenured appointment.
