Podražce jsou početným, především tropickým rodem z čel. podražcovitých (Aristolo-chiaceae). Jejich květy obvykle opyluje dvoukřídlý hmyz, k čemuž jsou dokonale přizpůsobeny. Fungují jako pasti — hmyz, který vleze dovnitř, zůstane uvězněn v rozšířené bazální části, dokud nedojde k opylení. V Evropě roste celkem 20 druhů, u nás se lze ve volné přírodě setkat pouze s podražcem křovištním (Aristolochia clematitis). Mnohé další druhy se však pěstují v zahradách.

Birthworts (Aristolochia) belong to a very numerous and mainly tropical genus from the family Aristolochiaceae. Their flowers are generally pollinated by diptera insect to which flowers are very well accommodated. They function as traps — an insect which enters is captured in the enlarged basal part until pollination is completed. In total, 20 species grow in Europe. On Czech territory we can find only one species — Aristolochia clematitis. Nevertheless many other species grow in gardens.
