Pěnišníky (Rhododendron) zahrnují početnou skupinu stromů a keřů z čel. vřesovcovitých (Ericaceae). V Evropě v současnosti roste šest původních druhů. Zajímavostí může být např. p. chlupatý - Rh. hirsutum, který osidluje vápnité substráty nebo jediný evropský žlutokvětý pěnišník žlutý - Rh. luteum.

The Rhododendron genus consists of a large group of trees and shrubs of the family Ericaceae. Six original species currently grow in Europe. Interesting species include Rh. hirsutum, which grows on calcareous substrata, and the only European yellow flowering species - Rh. luteum.
