SCIENCE AND RESEARCH
NEST
NEST is a new activity within the 6th Framework Programme, supporting unconventional and visionary research with the potentially capable of opening new fields for European science and technology. It will also support research on potential problems discovered by science and help to consolidate European efforts in emerging fields of research. An information meeting about NEST was held in Prague.
The Venus Transit 2004
The European Southern Observatory has joined forces with the European Association for Astronomy Education, the Institut de Mécanique Céleste et de Calcul des Éphémérides and the Observatoire de Paris in France, as well as the Astronomical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic to establish the Venus Transit 2004 – a public education programme.
