The author provides an extensive analysis of the Czech and foreign literature devoted to the study of migration processes in the 20th century. A sociological analysis of modern Czech emigration can as a result be conducted which is capable of facilitating important historical comparisons, but above all formulating a significant socio-cultural framework for migration processes of teh second half of the 20th century. In the same time, the paper is a pilot study of more extensive biographic-sociological research on this field. The author is attempting to uncover the causes that led Czech emigrants to make the decision to return to the Czech Republic, how the return progressed, and how the ensuing (re-)integration into Czech society proceed.
