(peer review)
The journal editors ask that reviewers of contributions use this preprinted form (RTF, PDF) as the first page of their review and adhere to the following guidelines as they prepare the review.
The written peer review must contain:
A. A heading with the name and place of work of the reviewer, the date the review was completed, and the title and name(s) of the author(s) of the reviewed article.
B. The basic features of the evaluated contribution – please complete by ticking ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to the questions in points 1-7 on the form.
C. Final evaluation of the article (point 8 on the form) on the following scale:
1. I recommend publishing without comment (with minor modifications),
2. I recommend publishing with reservations
(weightier comments in relation to the theme require further work, and modifications or completion of appended illustrations)
3. I recommend publishing after rewriting
(an interesting and important theme has been drafted for publication in an unsuitable and inadequate manner),
4. I do not recommend publishing
(the theme – the direction of the contribution, its content and the formal drafting, or its scope, provide no possibility of being suitable for publication even after extensive reworking).
D. Rationale for your evaluation of the article which should contain:
1. an evaluation (preferably in bullet points) of the greatest benefits of the work,
2. an evaluation (preferably in bullet points) of the greatest deficiencies in the work,
3. an enumeration (in bullet points) of the required modifications and amendments in accordance with points 8.1–8.3 on the form.
The editors welcome comments and side notes directly in the text of the critiqued article as an appendix to the review (in .txt or .rtf format).
The editors ask that reviewers submit their reviews to them no later than one month from receipt of a contribution for critiquing. Please send your peer review in written form to the editors’ address, or in electronic form to pamatkyarup.cas.cz
The editors do not communicate the names of reviewers to authors. Reviews are the editors’ internal documents and are archived.
