The Prime Minister Andrej Babiš together with director of IPP visited the Plasma Science and Fusion Center MIT in the USA

He visited together with the vice-prime minister and minister of industry and trade Karel Havlíček and Minister of Environment Richard Brabec the Plasma Science and Fusion Center of MIT, which focuses on the development of the new source of energy based on thermonuclear fusion in tokamak-like devices. Radomír Pánek, director of IPP, accompanied the prime minister as IPP has a long-term collaboration with PSFC MIT. During the excursion to the Alcator C-Mod tokamak operated by PSFC the prime minister discussed the present situation in this field of research and the view of MIT on the future inclusion of this source into the energy mix. Afterwards, he discussed in details with the PSFC MIT representative and director of IPP status of the collaboration and its possible future strengthening. Radomír Pánek informed the delegation on the plans concerning the construction of the new COMPASS-U tokamak in IPP, which might have a strong synergy with research performed in PSFC MIT. He also informed about the intention to build in Prague the European Remote Experimentation Center for the European-Japanese JT60SA tokamak, which will be put in operation soon in Naka, Japan.
