The workshop focuses on practical aspects of pursuing academic work in an international context. What are the strategies to get your work published with international publishers and in international journals? How to apply for a visiting fellowship abroad? How to succeed in international academic job marker? The workshop will be based on experience sharing, use of practical examples and discussion. We will focus on issues such as international publication strategies, international grants, visiting positions, employment abroad, international conferences, and professional associations.
Kateřina Vráblíková is a Senior Lecturer in Politics at the University of Bath, UK. Her work focuses on political participation, social movements, political attitudes and culture in contemporary democracies, Eastern European politics and research methods. She received her PhD at Masaryk University (2012). She was Fulbright fellow at the University of California, Irvine (2010-11), Assistant Professor at the University of Mannheim (2012-2016), Post-doctoral Fellow at The Ohio State University (2016-2018), and Istvan Deak Visiting Professor in East Central European Studies at Harriman Institute, Columbia University (Spring 2019). Kateřina Vráblíková is a coordinator of a Research Network 25 – Social Movements of the European Sociological association (ESA) and Steering Committee member of the Standing Group on Participation and Mobilization of the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR). Her work has been published in journals, such as Comparative Political Studies, European Journal of Political Research and European Union Politics, and she is the author of the monograph What kind of democracy? (Routledge 2017).
