Czech Centres of Excellency Received Grants from the European Commission
Three Czech Centres of Excellence received grants in the amount of two million Euro from the European Commission. Academic Bulletin interviewed the director of the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the ASCR Miloš Drdácký, head of one of the winning projects.

The Christian Doppler Grammar School and its students were top winners in competition for computer class equipment sponsored by the firm Hewlett Packard.

Introducing the Institutes
Institute of Microbiology of the ASCR
One of the most significant Academy institutes in the Institute of Microbiology. Since its founding the institute has been established on a wide spectrum of science bringing together natural, technical, agricultural and medical microbiology with immunology disciplines. Currently the institute is the most important science centre for basic and applied (medicine, industry) research of micro-organisms (bacteria, funguses, yeast, algae) in the Czech Republic.

On April 6, 2000 the Institute of the History of Art of the ASCR organised the workshop on the problem of sepulchral monuments. The meeting of experts on the history of art and other related disciplines should solve the lack of interest in this field of research.

The exhibition of hand made craft of South African origin was exhibited in the entrance hall of the head office building of the ASCR.
