Abstract: In accordance with priorities of the Sub-programme 1 the goals of the project are: a) to develop synthetic methods for preparation of novel nanostructured and nanocomposite materials, which will utilize unique properties of nanoparticles made of metals (alloys), oxides (mixed oxides) and their interactions with inorganic substrates; b) to obtain deep understanding of the functioning of these materials in catalytic, electrocatalytic and sorption processes, and c) to extend the scope of industrial technologies in the material production in the CR via transfer of acquired know-how. Prepared nano-materials will be tailored for the use in environmentally friendly applications in the field of fuels, energy sources and pollutant removal, particularly for catalytic transformation of n-alkanes to iso-alkanes; electrocatalytic oxidation of aliphatic alcohols in fuel cells; and sorption based removal of radionuclides of Cs, Sr, Eu and Am from radioactive wastes of low activity.

Key words: nanostructured materials; catalysis; electrocatalysis; sorption; metals; metal oxides; chemical technology.
