Successful candidates will work on the Czech Science Foundation junior project Random Discrete Structures (principal investigator Matas Šileikis). We welcome candidates with research background in discrete mathematics, probability, theoretical computer science, statistical physics with research experience relevant to the topics of the Combinatorial group. Research experience in random discrete structures or combinatorial probability is an advantage.

Conditions

  • Estimated starting date: 1st May 2020 or according to agreement.
  • Contract duration: first contract until the end of year 2021, with possible extension until the end of year 2022 (negotiable).

  • The positions are full-time (part-time position can be negotiated), with no teaching obligations and comes with additional funding for travel and other research expenses.
  • We welcome applicants with a PhD degree or close to finishing their PhD. Successful candidates must have defended their PhD thesis before joining the project. Due to the rules of the Czech Science Foundation of junior grants, candidates cannot have their PhD awarded earlier than 1st January 2012 (the date can be adjusted in the case of parental leave and/or sick leave due to a long-term illness).
  • Due to the conditions of junior projects of the Czech Science Foundation the candidate should not exceed the age of 35 years by the end of 2019 (parental leave and long-term illness leave excluded).
