RNDr. Vladimír Albrecht, CSc.

Vladimir Albrecht has been working as an analyst of the National Information Centre for European Research of the Technology Centre. He graduated from the Charles University, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, with the specialization in mathematical statistics and theory of probability. He received his PhD in technical cybernetics from the Czech Technical University, Faculty of Electrical Engineering. His professional life covers 22 years of experience in application of mathematical statistics and random processes in life sciences and processing of biological signals. Before he joined Technology Centre ASCR, he had worked as a liaison officer of the World Health Organization in the Czech Republic for five years. At that post he focused on the effectiveness of healthcare systems in Europe.
Mr. Albrecht joined the Technology Centre in 1998. At first he held the position as the National Contact Point (NCP) for priority "Quality of life and management of living resources of FP5, in FP6 he was NCP for the specific programs' Citizens and governance in a knowledge-based society" and "Science and Society" and at the same time he was also a coordinator of Czech NCPs for the EU framework programmes. He is a chief of the editorial board of a bi-monthly journal ECHO dealing with European research, development and innovation. He is a member of the European evaluation network for research and development, which works within the European Commission.
He deals with the quantitative evaluation of research and development, organized by the EU, and especially with the Czech participation in these programs. Annually he participates in organizing a national conference CZEDER (Czech Days for European Research) and is a member of the European Network for evaluating research and development, which operates at the European Commission. As well he was the main organizer of the conference EUFORDIA (European Forum for evaluating the impact of research and development) during the Czech EU Presidency. In 2009 he was awarded an honorary Medal for Merit for the Czech Academy of Sciences. He is a member of the European evaluation network for research and development, which works within the European Commission.
