Prof. Jan Kmenta - Obituary
// ARTICLE CREATION AND/OR MODIFICATION DATES // note the special format due to date() not functioning with other languages ?>25 July, 2016
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that Professor Jan Kmenta passed away this Sunday, July 24. Jan was a great and long friend of CERGE-EI.
He served as a visiting faculty member since the founding years of CERGE-EI, was a long-term member of our executive and supervisory committee, supported our faculty in many ways, and dedicated himself to our students. Above all, Jan, a legendary econometrician, was an example for us all. He will be greatly missed.
As Prof. Jan Švejnar stated, "Jan was a great friend, wonderful colleague and terrific economist – a role model for many! He was with CERGE-EI from the very start and he will be sorely missed by everyone."
Please join us in expressing condolences to Barbara Chobocky, Jan's wife, and the family.
The funeral service will be held on Friday 29 July, 2016 at 12:40 pm at the crematorium Strašnice in the Small Ceremonial Hall, Vinohradská street 214, Prague 10.
