The New Academic Year Begins
// ARTICLE CREATION AND/OR MODIFICATION DATES // note the special format due to date() not functioning with other languages ?>10 September, 2018
The new 2018/2019 academic year started at CERGE-EI today for the Master in Applied Economics program, with the PhD in Economics program joining in next week, on September 17.
This year, we are proud to welcome 31 students to both study programs (21 students from 13 countries to the PhD program, and 10 students from 6 countries to the MA in Applied Economics program). We wish them good luck and plenty of energy for the year to come: no matter what their study background is, a very intensive academic year lies ahead of them.
Further to the course and project work, CERGE-EI students benefit from numerous extracurricular activities (including research seminars, conferences, public lectures and the Economics Discovery Hub) throughout the academic year. There is also a very long tradition of a number of informal events (such as brown bag seminars, coffee breaks, and food parties), enabling a natural exchange of ideas, knowledge, and experience.
Firmly believing that there is a correlation between an institution′s relevance and its attitude to its students, CERGE-EI aims to be the best place to study economics in the region, providing both excellent research opportunities and academic freedom. Dedicated to excellence and innovation, it keeps opening the world to new talented researchers, making them a part of the world's scientific community.
