The Third Moscow Solar System Symposium

Starting from 2010, the Space Research Institute holds annual international symposia on Solar system exploration. Main topics of these symposia include wide range of problems related to formation and evolution of Solar system, planetary systems of other stars; exploration of Solar system planets, their moons, small bodies; study of the Sun, interplanetary environment, exobiology problems. Experimental planetary studies and preparation for space missions are also considered at these symposia.
The third Moscow international Solar System Symposium (3M-S3) will take place from October 8 till 12, 2012. Subject matter of this symposium covers many problems of the Solar system science with a central topic “Moon and Mars exploration”. This topic relates to scientific problems of several projects which are under development in Russia: “Luna-Glob”, “Luna-Resource”, and the “ExoMars”, the project is considered to be developed in ESA-Roscosmos cooperation.
The following sessions will be held during the symposium:
- Session 1. Mercury
- Session 2. Moon
- Session 3. Venus
- Session 4. Mars
- Session 5. Problems of Cosmogony
- Session 6. Dust and dusty plasma in space
- Session 7. Interaction of the solar wind with Mars, Venus, Mercury, and Moon
- Session 8. Giant planets and their moons
- Session 9. New projects
Scientists and specialists of planetary exploration are invited for participation in 3M-S3.
The program committee will invite speakers and consider submitted reports corresponding to the subjects of the symposium. These reports can be oral or presented at posters sessions according to decision of the program committee.
