Mesoporous hybrid catalysts for preparation of specialty polymers

Abstract:
New highly active and selectíve hybrid catalysts for preparation of catalyst-free specialty polyalkenylenes and polyacetylenes will be developed. Special attention will be paid to the achievement of long-time stable and reusable catalysts that will be applied in flow reactor. The easy separation of prepared polymers from the hybrid catalysts will minimize the contamination of polymers with catalysts residua (serious weakness in homogeneously catalyzed preparation) that is of particular importance in the case of functionalized polyalkenylenes and polyacetylenes for applications in electronics, optoelectronics, pharmacology and related fields. Well defined Ru, Rh and Ir organometallic complexes will be anchored on (i) Si and/or AI containing mesoporous molecular sieves of /arious architecture and pores diameter and (ii) polybenzimidazole and/or poly(styrene-co-divinylbenzene) polymeric supports. The hybrid catalysts will be applied in polymerizations of functionalized monomers….
