The President of CAS Eva Zažímalová opened the second round of visits to workplaces of CAS. On February 14, 2020 Eva Zažímalová visited the TOPTEC Centre in Turnov and the Laboratory of Plasma Technologies in Letňany. Two workplaces of IPP.

The Director of IPP has become one of the two Vice-Chairpersons of the Governing Board of the European Fusion for Energy (F4E) Joint Undertaking, based in Barcelona, and will also lead the Technical Advisory Panel of the Board.

One of the largest Czech space projects - Solar Orbiter launches on historic mission to study the sun's poles
A breakthrough European satellite, Solar Orbiter, launched from the US Cape Canaveral to the Sun on the night February 9/10, 2020. A key component of the satellite is a unique optical system developed and manufactured in IPP by the Czech scientists from the Research Centre for Special Optics and Optoelectronic Systems (TOPTEC) in Turnov.

20 000 shots on tokamak COMPASS
On Thursday, January 30, 2020, the COMPASS team performed a jubilee shot number 20,000. The COMPASS tokamak is being used successfully for eleven years.

Radomír Pánek was inaugurated Director of IPP for the second term
On Friday, January 24, a ceremonial handover of the appointment decree for Dr. Radomír Pánek for the second term of the Director of IPP was held. Radomír Pánek will lead the Institute in the next five years. The decree was handed over to him by the vice-president of CAS, professor Řídký.

EMTRAIC was held at the COMPASS tokamak
On December 2 - 13 the winter course EMTRAIC was held at the COMPASS Tokamak. This course is similar to the SUMTRAIC summer training course, however, it is organised for the students of the Erasmus Mundus Fusion Master Programme.
