On October 16, 2018, the lecture on topic "Physical Metallurgy of High-Entropy Alloys" by Dr. Sheng Guo was held at IPP. The lecture was held under the auspices of the Strategy AV21 Programme "New Materials Based on Metals, Ceramics and Composites".
Dr. Sheng Guo is currently an Associate Professor at the
Department
of lndustrial and Materials Science, Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. Sheng joined
Chalmers as an Assistant Professor in 2013, and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2016. Before
joining Chalmers, Sheng spent four years working as a postdoctoral researcher in two universities
in Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, and Polytechnic University of Hong Kong, respectively.
Sheng got his PhD in Materials Science from University of Oxford, United Kingdom in 2009, his
master degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Centra I South University, China in 2005,
and bachelor degree in Powder Metallurgy from the same university in 2002. Sheng's research
activities nowadays are focused on alloy design and mechanical properties of highly concentrated
multi-component alloys, known as high-entropy alloys, but he is also actively looking for
opportunities to expand his research areas to functional properties of novel metallic materials.
