Research interests:

1977 - 1981: Study of molecular associations using IR spectroscopy and application of results for the description of liquid-vapour equilibrium in strong non-ideal systems

1981 - 1983: Research of heterogeneous catalysts for desulphurization of thiophene derivates in liquid state phase

1983 - 1993: Technology of special silica optical fibers based on the MCVD and sol-gel methods (telecommunication fibers, polarization-maintaining fibers, fibers doped with rare earth elements)

1993 - today: Material research in the field of optical fibers based on oxidic glasses for fiber lasers, fiber-optic sensors which employs deposition of thin films from vapour (MCVD) or liquid phase (sol-gel); Theoretical and experimental research of fiber-optic evanescent sensors (sectorial fibers, inverted graded fibers, holey fibers)
