On Friday, January 24, a ceremonial handover of the appointment decree for Dr. Radomír Pánek for the second term of the Director of IPP was held. Radomír Pánek will lead the Institute in the next five years. The decree was handed over to him by the vice-president of CAS, professor Řídký.
Professor Řídký stressed that the candidacy and election of Radomír Pánek was a logical step
that allowed him to continue his successful work. From his experience, he also confirmed that this
is a demanding position that Radomír Pánek performs with great dedication and has highlighted, for
example, his merits in negotiating the signing of a contract concerning the cooperation of CAS and
IPP with the US Department of Energy.
Radomír Pánek thanked the IPP Council and the Academic Council of CAS for their confidence in
his re-election. He emphasized in particular many tasks and projects that he would like to complete
successfully in the second period. The main challenges include the successful implementation of the
new COMPASS-U tokamak, the construction of the new IPP building and many other projects that have
been commenced, which he considers to be crucial for the successful future of the
Institute.
