Closure of the library from Monday, March 16, until further notice

Due to the declaration of the state of emergency by the Czech Government, the library will be closed from Monday, March 16, until further notice.

Only remote access to electronic information resources remains available for users: https://www.lib.cas.cz/en/eir/. It will be possible to make new online registrations to membership for remote access (or to extend an expired membership).

Charges for the late return of off-site loans incurred from Friday, March 13, will be waived.

Partial restoration of loan services

The building of ASCR remains closed to the public, however there will be an exception from Monday, March 9. Current registered users with off-site membership will be allowed to make off-site loans of documents ordered in advance from the user account. At the time of the library visit, the documents must be ready for collection – the users will receive an e-mail notification. The order status can be also monitored in the user account.
Opening hours will be limited from 9 a.m. to 17 p.m., the book return box will be available until 20 p.m. as usual. Other on-site services remain unavailable. Read more »

Study room reopened

Beginning Monday September 9th the study room will return to regular service (Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.). During the summer closure of the library, 28 new study spots were added in the rear end of the building. These spots are equips with electrical sockets and desk lamps as per usual. The location of library collection is also changed. Both book and periodical collections are now located together on the left side of the study room. The Pragensiae collection was distributed between individual subjects.

Summer library closure 2019

The library will be closed exceptionally long this year – from 29 June until 8 September.
The study at Národní will be completely closed, other workplaces and services will operate with limitations.

Notice: Exceptional closure of the library 13. 5.

On Monday 13 May 2019 the library will be closed from 4.45 p.m. for operational reasons.
During the closure the loans can be returned into book return box in the lobby.
We are sorry for inconveniences and thank you for your understanding.

Notice: on Wednesday 8 May 2019 the library will be closed. The book return box will not be available as well due to the closure of entire building.
On other days the library will be operating as usual
(Mon–Tue, Thu–Fri, 9 a.m.–7 p.m.).

New version of the library regulations

In connection with the introduction of the RFID identification system, the introduction of the self-service loan device and the withdrawal of loan tickets, a new version of the Library regulations becomes effective on 17 December 2018. Please acquaint yourself with the new version on knav.cz/library-regulations. The information about the processing of your personal data by library was also updated.

CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY & Opening hours change

The library will be closed on 21 December from 5 p.m. and from 22 December to 1 January 2019.
The regular library operation will start again on Wednesday 2 January 2019.

The replacement of library cards (transition to an RFID identification system)

On 17 December 2018 we will be introducing an RFID identification system at the library. The launch of this system will be accompanied by a self-service loan device being put into operation and the replacement of library cards. You will, for the very first time, be able to use your own chip card instead of a card issued by the library, and will no longer be required to own another card that you have to carry around with you. It goes without saying that you will still be able to have an LCAS chip card issued to you as a library card.
