RNDr. Antonín Fejfar, CSc., deputy Director
Antonín Fejfar‘s field of expertise involves the physics of thin layers in nanostructural semiconductors designed primarily for photovoltaics and photonics.
Since April 2017, he has been a chairman of the Scientific Council of the Czech Academy of Sciences for the 1st scientific field (on inanimate nature) and he was the Council‘s Deputy Chairman in 2011–2017. He is a member of the Energy Commission of the Czech Academy of Sciences, a member of the Scientific Council of the CEITEC Nano of the VUT in Brno and the Nanometer Structures Division of the International Union of Vacuum Science, Technique and Applications (IUVSTA).
Antonín Fejfar was a guest worker at Ecole Polytechnique (ParisTech) in France. He organizes an international series of summer schools about nanostructure physics.
RNDr. Michal Dušek, CSc., Deputy Director for the “Cukrovarnická” facility.
The subject of Michal Dušek‘s scientific expertise is structural analysis of modulated, composite and twinned crystals, the development of crystallographic programmes and X-ray diffraction experiment.
Since 2012, he has been an external member of the Council of the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences. He is actively involved in the activity of the International Crystallography Union. Since 2005, has been a secretary of the management of the Special Interest Group on Aperiodic Crystals of ECA, and since 2013, he has been a member of the Commission on Aperiodic Crystals. In 2002, he received the Otto Wichterle Premium awarded by the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.
Michal Dušek was a guest professor at the P. J. Šafárik University in Košice, University of Warsaw and University of Nantes.
Doc. Ing. Martin Nikl, CSc., Deputy Director for Targeted Research
Doc. Ing. Martin Nikl, CSc. was elected a chairman of the Council of the Institute of Physics in 2017, during the preceding election period of the Council, he held a position of Deputy Director.
Martin Nikl‘s expertise involves luminescence and scintillation materials; energy transfer and capture processes; defect physics, nanocrystals and nanoaggregates.
Nikl‘s scientific results have been recognized by a prize awarded by the Technological Agency in the category “project originality”. In 2013, he received the Praemium Academiae prize awarded by the President of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
Martin Nikl is a member of international committees of the SCINT, EURODIM, LUMDETR, ISLNOM and a member of editorial committees of Optical Materials, Radiation Measurements (Elsevier) Journals. Simultaneously, he is an opponent and evaluator for international journals published by Elsevier, Wiley, IoP UK, APS, etc. publishing houses. Martin Nikl participates in subject committees for doctoral study programmes at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University and the Faculty of Nuclear Physics of the Czech Technical University. His expertise is sought by institutions such as the Czech Technical University, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University, Grant Agency of the CR or the NSF USA.
Ing. Roman Hvězda, Deputy Director for ELI Beamlines and HiLASE
Roman HVEZDA has a mixed education background in engineering and economics from Czech (CVUT) Germany (RWTH Aachen) and Japan (Young leader program, National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies).
He was involved in formulating educational and research policy at the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports from 2006 to 2010. He has extensive experience from management and advisory positions, particularly with management of structural funds projects in the area of research and development. He served at senior management positions at the Ministry of Education, Youths and Sports.
Among his professional interests belongs topic of cooperation between research institutions and the private sector, knowledge and technology transfer and management of research institutions.
Since 2010, he acts as a project manager of an international laser research center ELI Beamlines. In 2014, Roman Hvezda was appointed, Head of Division ELI Beamlines and Deputy Director for ELI and HiLASE projects.
