A peer-reviewed specialist journal (published since 1. 11. 2009), which loosely follows on from Práce z dějin Československé akademie věd [Studies in the History of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences], Series A, Volumes 1-4 (1986–1992), Práce z dějin Akademie věd [Studies in the History of the Academy of Sciences], Series A, Volumes 5-6 (1997–1997) and Práce z Archivu Akademie věd [Studies from the Archive of the Academy of Sciences], Series A, Volumes 8-9 (2005-2007).

This journal focuses on studies in the history of research institutes, particularly the Czech Academy of Sciences and its predecessors. It presents texts on the life and work of leading scientists and scholars. It deals with the source base on the history of science, the selection, processing, presentation and utilization of institutional and personal archive fonds and collections, records management and editorial activities. It also deals with more general topics from archive-keeping, the history of science and scholarship, social reflections of science, science policies and the development of relations between university and non-university science within the broader international context.
The journal is indexed in the ERIH Plus database (European Reference Index for the Humanities and the Social Sciences).
