Evaluations of CAS Institutes
Czech Academy of Sciences is currently preparing another round of its periodic evaluation. In this exercise, which will take place during 2020 and will follow similarly designed evaluation from 2015, we aim to acquire detailed and independent information about our institutes and research teams and set it in the international context.
52 research institutes and over 300 of their research teamswill be evaluated, covering scientific fields from Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Physics, Earth Sciences, Life and Chemical Sciences to Humanities and Social Sciences.
A two-phase informed peer-review will be performed and predominantly international character of the evaluation kept. Panels (Phase I) and Commissions (Phase II) will be established specifically for the purposes of this evaluation, their structure will follow the OECD Fields of Science and Technology classification.
In Phase I, assessment and marking of the selected number of research outputs submitted by research teams will be performed. In Phase II, an on-site evaluation of the institutes and research teams will be performed. Outcomes and recommendations for each evaluated institute and team will be summarised in a series of final reports and overviews.
Specific evaluation methodology will be applied to the research-infrastructure focused institutes – namely Centre of Administrations and Operations of the CAS, Library of the CAS and part of the Masaryk Institute and Archive of the CAS.
The evaluation will be supervised by the Coordination Board.
