Research Orientation
Christian works at the intersection of quantitative economic history, political economy and economic geography. He looks at (quasi-) natural experiments in history to identify causal effects of historical policies and long-gone events on modern-day outcomes. His recent papers deal with voting behavior, collective memories, and the opposition to and adoption of new technologies.
