Postdoctoral position (late medieval music in Bohemia and Central Europe) starting on 1. 7. 2020

The Masaryk Institute and Archives of the Czech Academy of Sciences is offering a one to two-year postdoctoral position, starting on July 1, 2020

 

Research focus:

Late medieval music in Bohemia and Central Europe

 

Eligibility and requirements: 

This position is open to post-docs, who in the moment of application can have max. two years after acquiring PhD (excluding possible parental leave and/or long-term stay abroad. In that case the maximum time span between acquiring PhD and applying can be 4 years). The candidates must hold their PhD degree at the time of applying for the position.

Active knowledge of English or German 

 

Terms:

The position is a part of the Czech Academy of Sciences´ special program for funding post-docs. The selection will be a result of a two-staged process. The Institute will select one to two candidates whose materials will be passed on to the Presidency of the Czech Academy of Sciences, which makes the final decision. In the first stage selected candidates might be invited for an interview, in the second stage the selection will be made only on the basis of the written materials.

Masaryk Institute and Archives is a mid-sized humanities research institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences.  Its Department for the Cataloguing and Study of Manuscripts conducts also original research in the field of medieval musicology.

The Institute provides all the necessary equipment for research, library services etc. Researchers are expected to be in residence in Prague. The Institute can offer assistance in finding accommodation for non-Czech applicants. During their residence, researchers are required to produce academic publications and participate in all activities of the Institute (research seminars, conferences and other events). We reserve the right not to fill this position.

The starting date of the position can be negotiated.
