Ground-based measurements
Both ionospheric and atmospheric measurements are carried out at Panska Ves observatory. Considering ionospheric measurements, transmitters forming one point of continuous Doppler sounding network, operating at 3.59, 4.65 and 7.04 MHz, are located at the observatory. A short description of Doppler sounding can be found at the Measurements page. An application of Doppler sounding for the investigation of acoustic gravity waves can be found here. Riometer that serves for measurement of cosmic noise absorption that occurs at bottom-side ionosphere is currently under testing and data can be found here. As for atmospheric measurements, there is an array of micro-barometers dedicated for investigation of infrasound propagation and measurement of atmospheric electricity. A simple meteorological station supports the analysis of infrasound propagation and atmospheric electricity. In collaboration with colleagues from German Remote Sensing Data Center of DLR, Oberpfaffenhofen, optical airglow measurements of OH layer in mesopause region (altitudes around 87 km) are carried out. In addition, a seismic station is located at the observatory, based on collaboration with Institute of Geophysics of the Czech Academy of Sciences. A simple VLF receiver is also located at the observatory in the frame of inFlaMo project that mainly monitors the effects of solar X-ray radiation on the ionosphere. |
