Busy Week for Economics Discovery Hub as the Spring Semester Started

The Economics Discovery Hub’s spring semester has started this week with bunch of great courses. Students from various Czech universities came to us to learn SQL Fundamentals, Python or Excel Basics. Mathematics for Economists Course as well as Machine Learning with Python are also in full swing.

CERGE-EI has become a partner of EconPol Europe

EconPol Europe, the European network for economic and fiscal policy research, has welcomed five new associate partners to expand its reach into Spain, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Portugal. The new associates join founding partners in Germany, France, the UK, Finland, Austria, Italy and Belgium to take the total number of university and non-university institutions in the network to 14.

New Economic Talent Wanted

For the fifth time, CERGE-EI is looking for New Economic Talent: a young student willing to embark on the path to a successful career in economics research. The competition is open to current bachelor's and master's students (full-time or part-time) or bachelor's and master's graduates (up to one year after graduation), in any field, who are interested in contemporary economic issues.

Publication in the Review of Economic Studies Journal

We are very proud to announce that Filip Matějka′s paper "Discrete Actions in Information-Constrained Decision Problems" (coauthored with Christopher A. SimsJunehyuk Jung, and Jeong-Ho Kim) was accepted by the Review of Economic Studies for publication.

The Review of Economic Studies is published quarterly and its objective is to encourage research in theoretical and applied economics, especially by young economists. It is one of the core economics journals, consistently ranked among the top five titles.

Filip Matějka is an Associate Professor with tenure at CERGE-EI and a member of the Executive and Supervisory Committee of CERGE-EI. He is also an Associate Professor at CERGE, Charles University and a Researcher at the Economics Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences. His area of research is mainly macroeconomics, political economy, information economics (mostly rational inattention), and behavioral economics. He was awarded the prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant in 2015.
