Vacancy: laboratory manager/assistant for mineral separation lab (Praha 6 – Lysolaje)

We are looking for a laboratory manager/assistant for our mineral separation lab based at the Institute of Geology of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague (Czech Republic). The job entails primarily separation of minerals from rock samples. This includes crushing and grinding of rocks, separation of minerals using gravity methods, magnetic field and heavy liquids. Subsequently, control of the separated fraction under an optical microscope.

Desired skills and experience: Secondary education or university degree, alternatively PhD. in Earth sciences or technical schools, self-reliance, care and responsibility, accuracy to comply procedures. Knowledge of accessory minerals microscopy is an advantage. We will provide training in individual separation methods routinely provided by the mineral separation lab.

Salary: The basic salary is between €9120 and €14,640 per annum depending on the qualification and education plus extra remuneration from external projects.
