The Czech government has announced new restrictive measures to stop the rapid spread of Covid-19 in the country. Not surprisingly, we are witnessing a heated debate on this issue. A study on restriction costs by CERGE-EI is showing that effective temporary restrictions are the best way to protect public health and the economy.

For the first time, this year's offer of optional courses at Charles University also includes two courses taught at CERGE-EI. In both cases, the teachers will focus on current topics seen from the perspective of modern economics.

Martin Srholec and Vít Macháček are moving forward with their research on scholars’ mobility in cooperation with colleagues from Leiden University. By using the Dimensions database the research team could significantly extend the original study 'Where do universities recruit researchers?' published earlier this year.
