Economics Discovery Hub Opens Its Fifth Season

With the beginning of the Academic year, CERGE-EI’s Economics Discovery Hub (EDH) launches its fifth season. As always, the EDH will offer a variety of free courses and workshops focused on Soft Skills, Applied Data Science, and Economics.

People of CERGE-EI: Meet Our Alumni

Our PhD alumnus Vahagn Jerbashian said in an interview for the CERGE-EI blog that economics is a lot like physics but much more interesting.
Vahagn spoke about his journey from theoretical mathematics to economics, his current research interests, and the importance of beer parties.

CERGE-EI Media Highlights for September

The effects of the coronavirus epidemic on the Czech society and economy were among the dominating topics commented on by researchers from CERGE-EI and the IDEA think tank for Czech media during September. Our experts had their say on the abolition of the "super-gross wage" and regional differences in wages. Long-term research done by Michal Bauer and Julie Chytilová, and an online application explaining some of the key principles of statistics also appeared in this month's headlines.

Effective Restrictions Against Covid Could Pay For Themselves

The Czech government has announced new restrictive measures to stop the rapid spread of Covid-19 in the country. Not surprisingly, we are witnessing a heated debate on this issue. A study on restriction costs by CERGE-EI is showing that effective temporary restrictions are the best way to protect public health and the economy.
