Abstract:
In this talk I will describe a method to improve confidence in measurement
results from postselecting devices when photo-detectors have loss. I will
start by explaining postselecting devices and a measure of success for
their operation. One of the factors of this measure describes the
operation of the detector. I will show that when errors due to loss are
present this factor can be improved by pre-amplification, even though
noise is added by the amplifying process.
