Gurgen works as a Research and Teaching Associate at the Dilijan Research and Training Center in Armenia. Previously he has worked as a Junior Professor at the Central Bank of Armenia as well as a Lecturer at the Armenian National Agricultural University.

Prior to undertaking a PhD in Economics at CERGE-EI, Gurgen earned his Bsc in Economics, with Honours, from Yerevan State University, Armenia (2003).
